Work Experience

September 2022 - Present

Checkout.com
Software Engineer (Back-end)
  • Engineered distributed and highly available backend applications in C#/.NET, leveraging key AWS services (EC2, ECS, ECR, Kinesis, Lambda, SNS, SQS, OpenSearch) to establish a robust infrastructure supporting core low-latency and high-throughput systems
  • Designed and implemented performance-enhancing attributes, empowering merchants to optimize acceptance rates while minimizing fraudulent transactions. A pivotal contribution included the development of metadata velocities, which facilitated fine-tuning risk strategies to align with merchant requirements
  • Lead the development of real-time, low-latency features integral to the fraud detection ML model. These features have played a key role in identifying and preventing rapid fraud attacks on high transaction volume merchants - with a recall increase of 5.9% at 20% precision
  • Successfully reduced P99 by 30ms for the ML feature lookup service by both optimizing the Redis velocity data model and feature lookup algorithm by reducing the number of queried documents
  • Orchestrated the implementation of end-to-end audit logging for dynamic changes to merchant risk strategies. This initiative not only ensures transparency for both merchants and Checkout.com's risk management teams but also led to a notable reduction in related support tickets, streamlining operational efficiency

June 2021 - September 2021

University College London
NLP & Data Mining Research Intern
  • Leveraged Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) & Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithms to classify 200,000+ publications and 300,000+ researchers across the institution
  • Established reliable data mining engine and data processing infrastructure, deployed on Microsoft Azure
  • Delivered usable front-end using Django framework for data visualization (t-SNE clustering, Intertopic Distance Map, Bubble chart), analysis & validation
  • The tool is used by researchers for annual mapping of ongoing Sustainable Development Goals activity, as well as author extraction for inter-disciplinary and cross-departmental collaboration evaluation

May 2020 - Present

Lodus Labs
Co-Founder
  • Performed cross-platform data scraping of the video-game industry
  • Worked with Microsoft Azure Functions & SQL Server to establish a reliable back-end structure for data storage and analysis
  • Gathered current & historic video-game statistics through time-triggered web-scrapers using Digital Oceans' Droplet cronjobs, and developer data through RAWG databases using their respective APIs
  • Currently in commercial partnership with Amazon's subsidiary - IGDB
